A rotationally activated flow control valve is disclosed. The valve comprises a body including a distal adapter and a proximal adapter defining a lumen extending through the body. A septum (34) with a slit is positioned between the distal and proximal adapters. The slit has two opposing slit surfaces (128, 129) that are in contact when the septum is in a closed position to substantially seal the lumen. The septum further comprises at least two holes and at least two posts (50, 51) are coupled to the proximal adapter or distal adapter to mate with the holes in the closed position. The rotation of the proximal adapter or the distal adapter repositions the posts (50, 51) which results in the activation of the valve.
