A method for correcting myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and multi-focal vision problems is accomplished without the use of a microkeratome or an Excimer laser by using a photodisruption laser such as a femtosecond (“FS”) laser to form a flap of varying thicknesses and radii of curvature. This procedure enables a refractive surgeon to reshape the cornea by controlling the shrinkage of the corneas collagen fibers.
