Each earpiece comprises a body, an earbud, which is arranged to be inserted into an ear canal of a user to block the ear canal of the user, and a cable 3, wherein the earbud and the cable extend from the body. The shape of the earpiece, particularly the concha-engaging part 11-13 (see 8, fig 10), is such that when the earbud is received by the ear canal of the users left ear, the cable extends from the body in an upwardly or downwardly direction, and when the earbud is received by the ear canal of the users right ear, the cable extends from the body in the other of the upwardly or downwardly directions. This is achieved by the earpieces being mirror images of each other. The earpiece may be used with a hearing protection device arranged to provide hearing protection in environments with medium to high ambient noise levels.
