PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel seat for a fishing rod and a fishing rod, capable of preventing the outer peripheral surface of a reel seat body from being damaged by a movable hood body and attaining a good appearance design.SOLUTION: A cylindrical movable hood body is externally mounted on a reel seat body 29 to be slidable in the rod shaft direction. In the opening edge part on the reel leg insertion side of the movable hood body, a recessed escape part 61 is formed on a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the reel seat body 29 where an opposite side part to the hood part faces in the reel mounting state.
