The invention concerns novel light-stable filtering cosmetic compositions for topically protecting the skin and/or the hair against ultraviolet radiation, in particular solar radiation, comprising in a cosmetically acceptable support, at least a dibenzoylmethane derivative and at least an oily phase, and an efficient amount of at least a thickening copolymer including at least a hydrophobic unit in sufficient amount for it to be partially or completely soluble in said oily phase and at least a hydrophilic unit in sufficient amount for thickening said oily phase as stabilising agent for said filter. The invention also concerns the corresponding method for providing dibenzoylmethane with light stability and the use of said compositions for skin and hair protection against the effects of ultraviolet radiation.Linvention concerne de nouvelles compositions cosmétiques filtrantes photostables pour la photoprotection par voie topique de la peau et/ou des cheveux contre le rayonnement ultraviolet, en particulier le rayonnement solaire, qui comprennent dans un support cosmétiquement acceptable, au moins un dérivé du dibenzoylméthane et au moins une phase huileuse, et une quantité efficace dau moins un copolymère épaississant comprenant au moins un motif hydrophobe dans une quantité suffisante pour obtenir sa solubilité partielle ou totale dans ladite phase huileuse et au moins un motif hydrophile dans une quantité suffisante pour produire un épaississement de ladite phase huileuse à titre dagent stabilisant dudit filtre. Linvention concerne le procédé de photostabilisation des dérivés du dibenzoylméthane correspondant et lapplication de ces compositions à la protection de la peau et des cheveux contre les effets du rayonnement ultraviolet.
