PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer supporting apparatus that can more safely support transfer, and a transfer supporting method for the apparatus.SOLUTION: The transfer supporting apparatus 10 includes: a movable carriage part 1； a movable arm 2, one end of which is connected to the carriage part 1； and a retainer 3 that is connected to the other end of the movable arm 2 and retains a care receiver. The retainer 3 is attached to the carriage part 1 via the arm part 2 to be rotatable in an X direction of a roll axis. The retainer 3 is attached so that a barycentric position G of the retainer 3 exists more downward than the roll axis X of the retainer 3 in a perpendicular direction.
