A health monitor configured to be supported by a subject, which is configured to receive motion data generated by an accelerometer of the health monitor in response to the activity performed by a subject over a sequence of time intervals and to receive cardiac data from a cardiac sensor of the health monitor detected during performance of the activity over the sequence of time intervals. The health monitor calculates a caloric burn rate for the activity performed by the subject over each time interval according to an algorithm based upon information in both the motion data and cardiac data. The health monitor records a first credit value for each time interval that the caloric burn rate falls within a first recommended range for the duration of that time interval and records a second credit value for each time interval that the caloric burn rate falls within a second recommended range for the duration of that time interval.
