A container is provided that has a first web comprising a laminate of a firstfilm layer anda second film layer, a second web peripherally sealed to the first web so asto form acompartment therebetween, and an air-activated material disposed within thecompartment. The first film layer is adhered to the second film layer via anadhesivelayer. At least a portion of the first film layer is configured to beseparated from thesecond film layer to reveal a plurality of openings in the first film layer soas to allow air toenter the compartment. The air-activated material is configured to react withthe airentering the compartment via the openings to activate the material. Prior toseparation ofthe second film layer from the first film layer, the container is configuredto allow ingressof oxygen into the compartment at a rate less than approximately 3 cc per 100in2 per 24hrs. at 23°C.
