PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially producing technique of a rod-shaped porous silica particle whose aspect ratio is controlled to be &ge0.1 to <1, the new rod-shaped porous silica particle consisting of a silica pure ingredient and being excellent in mono-dispersibility and an in vivo embedded material safe for a living body and a silicon sustained-release chemical agent using the rod-shaped porous silica particle.

SOLUTION: The rod-shaped porous silica particle which is a particle having a rod shape and an aspect ratio of &ge0.1 to <1 when the aspect ratio is a ratio of a particle length in a penetrating direction where one-dimensional channel pores being regularly arranged to be a honeycomb and having a mesopore diameter of 3 nm or more of 0.5 &mum or less basing on observation by transmission type and scanning type microscopes to the vertical cross-sectional length of the particle in an extended direction of the particle, which forms a loose aggregate recognized in the range that the maximum value of the peak (volume basis) of a particle size distribution in a water dispersion system is 10 &mum or less and where an Si element in a silica skeleton is not substituted with another metal and the in vivo embedded material and the silicon sustained-release chemical agent containing the rod-shaped porous silica particle are provided.
