Die Erfindung betrifft Epoxide und deren Verwendung in härtbaren Epoxidharzen, insbesondere in Dentalfüllmaterialien wie Wurzelkanalfüllmaterialien. Ferner betrifft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines gehärteten Füllmaterials durch Vorsehen einer härtbaren Füllmaterialmischung, umfassend das erfindungsgemäße Epoxid, und anschließendem Härten sowie das durch dieses Verfahren erhältliche gehärtete Füllmaterial. Des Weiteren umfasst die Erfindung einen Kit zur Bereitstellung einer härtbaren Füllmaterialmischung. Die erfindungsgemäßen Epoxide verfügen über eine hohe Hydrolysestabilität und zeichnen sich durch verkürzte Aushärtezeit bei Reaktion mit Aminen aus. Daraus erhaltene gehärtete Füllmaterialien verfügen ferner über eine verbesserte Festigkeit, gute Gewebeverträglichkeit und verminderten Volumenschrumpf.Use of a methoxy-ethane compound (I) as a comonomer in a hardenable filler material, is claimed.
