The mobile container, e.g. a slurry spreader (1) has an inlet pipe (23) for connection to a feed pipe (45), so that slurry from a slurry pit (48) can be drawn into the tank (2) by suction. A coupling member (27) makes sealing engagement with a connecting plate (46) when the spreader is reversed towards the feed pipe. The suction in the tank serves to hold the coupling member in engagement with the plate. The coupling member is flexible and the connecting plate has a large dia. so that the coupling can tolerate misalignment of the pipes. The coupling member pref. comprises two or more pref. relatively displaceable layers of material.
