The present invention is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The device comprises a housing (10), a dose selector (80) operable to set a dose by rotation relative to the housing, a number sleeve (60) arranged within the housing and carrying the dose scale, a drive sleeve (40) which is rotationally constrained to the housing during dose setting and dose correcting and which is rotatable relative to the housing during dose dispensing, a piston rod (30) coupled to the housing and t o the drive sleeve, a torsion drive spring (90) arranged between the housing and the number sleeve and tensed during rotational dose setting, and a bi-d irectional ratchet (43, 64) operatively arranged between the drive sleeve and the number sleeve, which allows the dose selector and number sleeve to be rotated in either direction in order to set respectively correct the dose to be injected.
