PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building greening method comprising growing vegetation thickly on the roof or rooftop and the external wall of a building, and capable of giving a building appearance rich in variation through differentiating the appearance of thickly grown vegetation in each part of a building. SOLUTION: This building greening method comprises arranging lean and tall growing areas (20 and 30) on the top or the external wall of a building, and growing vegetation (3) thickly from the growing areas. Changes are given to the growing condition of the vegetation from one end of the growing area to the other end thereof by differentiating the kind or concentration of aqueous fertilizer from the end of the growing area to the other end and supplying a culture solution with temperature different in each part of the growing area. As for the growing area, it is possible to use an area comprising a lean and tall tube-like member holding inside a vegetation root holding member, and having a plurality of opening parts (35a, 35b, 35c and 35d) at prescribed intervals along the longitudinal direction.
