PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nest building detection device by which nest building on an electric pole is detected on early state and reported to a worker.SOLUTION: A nest building detection device 1 includes: a main body case 10 mounted on a crossarm of the electric pole an optical fiber 20 of which one end is disposed within the main body case 10, the central part is disposed outside of the main body case 10 and the other end is disposed within the main body case 10 a light-emitting part 30 which is disposed within the main body case 10 and inputs light to the one end of the optical fiber 20 a light-receiving part 40 which is disposed within the main body case 10, receives the light from the light-emitting part 30 that is outputted from the other end of the optical fiber 20, and performs photoelectric conversion in accordance with the quantity of received light a detection part 50 which outputs a detection signal in the case where the output of the light-receiving part 40 becomes lower than a preset value and a communication part 60 by which information for identifying the electric pole is added to the detection signal outputted from the detection part 50, and outputted to the outside.
