Apparatus for fluid decaffeination, comprising: - at least one cathode electrode and at least one Anode electrode that are spaced apart from each other and immersed in the liquid, - a source of electric current connected to said at least one cathode electrode and to said at least one anode electrode and adapted for application thereto of electric current, said at least one cathode electrode and said at least one anode electrode formed to create an electric field in a liquid at electric current application, attract caffeine molecules in the liquid to said at least one cathode electrode, wherein said at least one cathode electrode formed or coated with an absorbent material adapted to absorb at least a portion of the caffeine molecules which are attracted to said at least one cathode electrode, wherein said absorbent material comprises one of a porous carbon material, a conductive polymer and neorgan nical adsorbenta.2.
