The invention provides methods for promoting and/or improving oral health in a companion animal. In one embodiment, a method for improving oral health in a companion animal can comprise identifying a companion animal that is suffering from an oral health condition and administering a composition comprising non-replicating Lactobacillus paracasei to the companion animal.
