A cartridge (120； 220) for storing and implanting an intraocular lens (IOL)(50) comprises a first part (122) and asecond part (124) that are movable relative to one another from a storageconfiguration, in which interior surfaces of the first andsecond portions define a storage chamber (140) for storing the IOL in anunfolded state, to an implanting configuration, in whichthe interior surfaces of the first and second portions together define asmooth-bored implanting chamber (140') for retaining theIOL in a folded state. According to a first aspect, the first and secondportions (122, 124) are hinged together, whereas accordingto a second aspect, the first and second portions (222, 224) are slidablyinterconnected.
