One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for estimating cardiac output which includes the steps of: calculating an input function for simulating a heartbeat of a subject from a pulse wave signal by the heartbeat of the subject detected on a body surface of the subject； calculating a transfer function for the input function by using a pulse wave as an output function； calculating a time constant of the transfer function； and calculating the cardiac output of the subject by using the time constant. Accordingly, the present invention can estimate the cardiac output with an invasive method.본 발명의 일 실시예는 피검체의 체표면에서 검출한 상기 피검체의 심장박동에 의한 맥파(pulse wave)신호로부터, 상기 피검체의 심장박동을 모사하는 입력함수를 산출하는 단계； 상기 입력함수에 대하여, 상기 맥파를 출력함수로 하는 전달함수(transfer function)를 산출하는 단계； 상기 전달함수의 시정수(time constant)를 산출하는 단계； 및 상기 시정수를 이용하여 상기 피검체의 심박출량을 산출하는 단계；를 포함하는, 심박출량 추정 방법을 제공한다.
