The present invention relates to the extraction of bioaetive compounds from plant materials: More particularly the present invention related seed oil of Lagenaria vulgaris have memory enhancing activity and neuroprotecive role which may be due to its anticholinesterase potential, effect on neurotransmitter metabolic enzymes and its antioxidant profile. Therefore it seems that seed oil of Lagenaria vulgaris may prove to be useful as memory enhancer. Further studies are to be warranted for its safety, efficacy in humans for its therapeutic potential.
