The present invention provides a customizable ear insert and method therefor that fits inside the user's outer ear, or ear canal, or both. According to an aspect of the present invention, it is composed of a photocurable polymer and has a main body having a first shape set to be inserted into the user's ear canal and a light source disposed adjacent to the main body. A customizable ear insert is provided. The body can be cured to a second shape that closely fits the inner surface of the user's outer ear, or ear canal, or both, by application of light generated from the light source.
