Portable apparatus for transmitting optical signals from and to the human eye, for which is proposed a rod-shaped housing (1), on each of the two end regions whereof at least one emitter (3) and/or detector of electromagnetic waves is arranged and which has a retaining clip (2) in the middle region thereof, wherein a power supply is provided in the rod-shaped housing (1) for the at least one emitter (3) and/or detector and a control unit (8) is also provided which is connected to the at least one emitter (3) and/or detector. The invention thus provides a portable apparatus for optical signal transmission from and to the human eye, which can be inconspicuously worn in the vicinity of the head with a high level of wearing comfort and, in particular, makes it possible to wear the apparatus at the same time as commercially available glasses. The handling, storage and transport of corresponding apparatuses are also facilitated.
