PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle-shaped body which applies a low load to a living body, is insoluble in water, and has sufficient plasticity, and a method of manufacturing a needle-shaped body.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a needle-shaped body having projection parts on at least one surface of a base body includes: a step of manufacturing a mold having recess parts formed of a recess-projection inverted pattern of a shape of the projection parts of the needle-shaped body a needle-shaped body material preparation step for preparing a needle-shaped body material containing water-soluble polymers and glycerin as plasticizer a filling step for filling the mold with the needle-shaped body material a drying step for drying the needle-shaped body material filled in the mold a mold release step for releasing the needle-shaped body material from the mold and obtaining a needle-shaped body precursor and an insolubilization step for making the needle-shaped body precursor insoluble. The needle-shaped body includes the projection parts on at least one surface of the base body and contains at least the water-soluble polymers and glycerin.
