The invention relates to a seed support for supporting seeds such as grass seeds, said seed support comprising a water-soluble biodegradable self-supporting film supporting seeds, wherein the self-supporting film can be overlaid with a water-soluble biodegradable coating and wherein the seed support may further comprise a carrier layer porous for water. The invention also relates to methods for sowing seeds applying the seed support for supporting seeds of the invention.
