An inspection assembly, reflection collar 66 for an inspection assembly and a method of illuminating an area, suitable for use in inspection or camera systems operating in internal spaces, e.g. downhole or in pipelines. The assembly comprises a light source 58, a lens 42 at a distal end of a body portion, and a reflection surface (Fig.7, 82) at an angle between 10 and 70 degrees from the longitudinal axis of the body portion. The reflection surface, which may be annular, is positioned such that a fraction of the light emitted from the light source is reflected and a fraction illuminates beyond the distal end of the body portion without reflection. The lens may be a fish-eye wide angle lens and an image sensor may capture an image through it. A reflection collar having a bore to receive part of an inspection assembly, and being fixed relative to the assembly, may provide the reflective surface for partial reflection of the light source.
