A hematophagous arthropod repellent composition includes 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde or vanillin acetate as an effective ingredient. The repellent composition is against hematophagous arthropods which transmit diseases to animals including humans or directly cause discomfort or stress by bloodsucking.
