[Problem] To inhibit an absorbent body (4) from getting twisted and thus provide an absorbent article which is not susceptible to side leak. [Solution] A sanitary napkin (1) which comprises a liquid-permeable front sheet (3), a back sheet (2), and an absorbent body (4) interposed therebetween and in which embosses (10) are formed in both edge areas of the absorbent body (4) approximately along the longitudinal direction. The embosses (10) are formed in such a pattern that multiple straight-line parts (11) and multiple arc-shaped parts (12) are alternately arranged, said arc-shaped parts (12) protruding from the ends of the straight-line part (11) toward the outsides of the napkin (1) in the width direction. The resistance of the absorbent body (4) to a pressure applied by the legs from both outsides in the width direction is enhanced by the multiple arc-shaped parts (12) thus arranged, so that the absorbent body (4) is inhibited from getting twisted and is therefore not susceptible to leak associated with twist. Further, a body fluid which has diffused from the widthwise central part toward the outsides is guided by the straight-line parts (11) and thus flows in the longitudinal direction of the napkin (1) along the straight-line parts (11), whereby the diffusion of the body fluid in the width direction is decreased to result in reduced susceptibility to side leak.
