PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope acquiring the image of the inner peripheral surface of a hole in a wide range without the need of skill in an operation, and an imaging method.
SOLUTION: The endoscope 1 includes: a casing which is provided with cylindrical outer shells 2 and 3 and provided with a transparent window part 3c extending in an axial direction on the outer shells a solid-state imaging element 27 which is provided inside the casing an objective optical system which includes an objective lens 17 for converging object light through the window part and forms an image on the solid-state imaging element and a driving mechanism which moves at least the objective lens of the objective optical system along the axis O of the casing. The endoscope 1 is inserted to the hole, operation parts 13-15 provided on the bottom part of the casing facing the opening of the hole are operated, the posture angle &theta of the casing around the axis of the casing to the hole is set to a prescribed angle, and the image of the inner peripheral surface of the hole is acquired while moving the objective lens along the axis of the casing by the driving mechanism.
