A feed bar (82) is configured to individually distally advance a surgical clip (72) to the jaw assembly (16) while the jaw portions (16a and 16b) are in the spaced apart position. An actuator (242) is at least partially disposed within the body (14) and longitudinally movable in response to actuation of the handle portion (12). A jaw closure member (100) is positioned distally of the actuator (242) and adjacent the first and second jaw portions to move the jaw portions (1 6a and I 6b) to the approximated position upon distal advancement of the actuator (242). A lockout mechanism (292) is connected to the feed bar (82), the lockout mechanism (292) being configured and dimensioned to prevent reactuation of the apparatus (10) subsequent to the application of a final surgical clip (72).
