The pusher back being axially movable within the shell to eject the plurality of fasteners from the disposable staple assembly, the shell being adapted to be rotabably connected to the outer tube. The approximation assembly includes an anvil retainer (140) releasably engageable with an anvil assembly (80). The approximation assembly being operable to approximate the anvil assembly and the staple assembly. The staple pusher assembly adapted to be rotatably connected to the pusher back of the disposable staple assembly and operable to effect axial movement of the pusher back within the shell.
