The fluid delivery device includes an actuator and a drive unit that includes one or more first mechanisms and a cartridge that is filled with fluid prior to being inserted into the housing. The cartridge has a fluid reservoir sealed at one end by a movable piston and sealed at the other end by a pierceable septum. The cartridge includes one or more second mechanisms configured to align and fit with the one or more first mechanisms to allow the cartridge to be inserted into the drive unit.
