The invention relates to a medical apparatus including a device used in the treatmentof weight loss, obesity and potentially other associated health problems, e.g.,type II diabetes. The device comprises a sleeve with an anchoring component attachedthereto. The device is used to impede absorption of nutrients within the gastrointestinaltract, i.e., bypassing a portion of the gastrointestinal tract. The medicalapparatus further comprises a delivery tube which enables implantation of thedevice using minimally invasive techniques, such a transesophageal approachunder visualization. During implantation the sleeve is inverted and containedin a lumen of the delivery tube until deployment into the gastrointestinal tract.The device may be implanted via a working channel of a medical scope, e.g., an endoscopeor in combination with a medical scope.
