The present invention relates to synergistic compositions comprising extracts or fractions derived from Bacopa monnieri in combination with extracts or fractions derived from Terminalia chebula for improving brain health, memory/mental condition, enhancing brain/mental functions such as cognition, memory, learning, retention, communication and for treating neurodegenerative diseases/disorders such as Alzheimers disease, Parkinsons disease etc. The invention further relates to method of improving brain health and brain functions selected from cognition, memory, memory retention, information recall, intelligence, motivation, attention, concentration, learning power and communication and to alleviate disease conditions related to cognition and memory deficits in a mammal by supplementing the mammal with an effective dose of the synergistic composition comprising at least one extract or fraction derived from Bacopa monnieri in combination with at least extract or fraction derived from Terminalia chebula.
