The present invention relates to compositions and methods for the treatment or prevention of autoimmune or autoinflammatory diseases. In one aspect, the present invention provides a method of treating an autoimmune or autoinflammatory disease in an individual, the method comprising, consisting essentially of or consisting of inhibiting a gap junction in the individual, thereby treating the autoimmune or autoinflammatory disease.
