The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting the growth of cancer stem cells, comprising an expression inhibitor of an EXT1, LDHB, CD109, EFEMP2, RASIP1, or SERPINE1 gene as an active ingredient, and to a method for treating cancer by using the same. According to the present invention, the composition exhibits the target treatment activation of cancer stem cells, significant for resistance, metastasis, recurrence, and the like of breast cancer.
