PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide biopsy forceps for an endoscope, capable of easily collecting a sufficient quantity of tissue in a range wider than the width of a forceps cup without hindering the opening/closing motions of the forceps cup.
SOLUTION: A notch 10 in such a shape as notched from an opening edge 8 side is formed on a side wall excluding the part close to the distal end of each forceps cup 7, and a blade 11 is formed in the opening edge 8 part of the forceps cup 7 in the area closer to the distal end than the notch 10 of the forceps cup 7. The area of each forceps cup 7 closer to the rear end than the notch 10 of the forceps cup is formed in such a state that the peripheral parts 12 of the opening edges 8 of a pair of forceps cups 7 closely face each other while the forceps cups 7 are closed.
