A method of designing a prosthetic implant.Exem-plary methods may include developing a three-dimensional model ofan anatomic feature from one or more two- dimensional images. Thethree-dimensional model may include a plurality of radii of curvaturerepresenting the shape of respective portions of a contact surface. Insome exemplary embodiments, three-dimensional models associatedwith a large number members of a population may be utilized tocre-ate templates for prosthetic implants. A three- dimensional model ofan anatomic feature of a patient may be compared to the availabletemplates, and a suitable template may be tested by virtuallyimplant-ing the template on the three-dimensional model of the patientsanatomical feature. In some embodiments, a patientsthree-dimen-sional model for which a suitable pre-made template is notavailablemay be used to customize a pre-made template to design a suitableimplant.
