The invention relates to a compound of the following formula (I) X-CRRRwherein - R is an organic moiety having 6 to 24 carbon atoms - Ris H or an organic moiety having 6 to 24 carbon atoms - R is X or OH - Xis a moiety of the following formula (II): or an ammonium or C-Calkyl ammonium salt of the moiety of formula (II) wherein - x is 0 or 1 - y is 0 or1 - z is 0 or 1 - m is a number from 2 to 10 - n is a number from 0 to 10 - o is a number from0 to 10 - R is H or a C-C alkyl group - Ris a C-C alkyl or alkenyl group or, if n or o is at least 1,a C-C acyl group - R is H or R -R is a C-C alkylene group. which is capableof delivering aldehyde-type or ketone-type fragrance compounds, providinga long-lasting release of said fragrance compounds. This compound can be incorporatedinto fiber conditioning compositions, such as hair conditioners and fabricsofteners, to enhance the fragrance performance. The compound provides controlledrelease from the substrate where it has been deposited over an extended periodof time.
