A catheter (1) includes catheter shaft (10) with an inner layer (24) and a braid (26) provided on an outer periphery of the inner layer (24) and including first wires (26a) and second wires (26b) that are woven together, and a tip (12) provided on a distal end of the inner layer (24) and a distal end of the braid (26). A residual portion having a sharp shape formed at a distal end of the first wire (26a) when the first wires (26a) are cut is not left untreated, but is formed into a bulging portion (27, 37, 47, 57).
