The present invention relates to a novel use of elecampane extracts. More particularly, the present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating brain cancer, wherein the composition contains, as active ingredients, ethanol extracts from elecampane. The present invention also relates to a functional food for preventing brain cancer, comprising cytologically acceptable food additives, and containing, as active ingredients, ethanol extracts from elecampane. The composition and functional food for treating brain cancer according to the present invention may exhibit the effects of inhibiting the growth of brain cancer cells and inducing apoptosis, and thus can be effectively used in the treatment and prevention of brain cancer.L'invention concerne une nouvelle utilisation d'extraits d'élécampane. Elle concerne plus particulièrement une composition destinée à la prévention et au traitement du cancer du cerveau, qui contient, comme principes actifs, des extraits d'éthanol provenant d'élécampane. L'invention concerne également un aliment fonctionnel destiné à la prévention du cancer du cerveau, qui comprend des additifs alimentaires cytologiquement acceptables, et contient, comme principes actifs, des extraits d'éthanol provenant d'élécampane.
