PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron metabolism-improving agent for improving the iron metabolism in the body of a patient having chronic renal failure who is receiving a blood purification therapy such as hemodialysis, hemofiltration and hemodialysis filtration.SOLUTION: The iron metabolism-improving agent does not contain acetic acid and/or an acetic acid salt as an electrolyte, contains citric acid and/or a citric acid salt, and further contains other electrolyte(s) and glucose alone or in combination. The iron metabolism-improving agent is in the form of a dialysis fluid and/or a substitution fluid for dialysis. Also disclosed is a method for improving the iron metabolism in a living body by using the dialysis fluid and/or the substitution fluid for dialysis. Further disclosed is a blood purification method including hemodialysis and hemodialysis filtration for a patient having chronic renal failure.【課題】 血液透析、血液濾過及び血液濾過透析等の血液浄化療法を受けている慢性腎不全患者の生体内の鉄代謝を改善させる鉄代謝改善剤を提供することを課題とする。【解決手段】 電解質として酢酸及び／又は酢酸塩を含有せず、クエン酸及び／又はクエン酸塩を含有し、更に他の電解質、ブドウ糖を単独若しくは複数種組合せて含有することを特徴とする鉄代謝改善剤であり、透析液及び／又は透析用補充液の形態にある鉄代謝改善剤である。また、当該透析液及び／又は透析用補充液を使用することによる生体内の鉄代謝を改善させる方法、ならびに慢性腎不全患者に対する血液透析及び血液濾過透析を含む血液浄化方法である。【選択図】 図１
