In a preferred embodiment, there is provided an intraaortic balloon pumpassembly comprising an intraaortic balloon pump, a vascular graft, and astopper,wherein: the intraaortic balloon pump comprises an inflatable distal chamberand anelongate proximal inflation tube defining a channel in fluid communicationwith thechamber； the vascular graft defines a graft lumen and comprises a distal endso sizedand shaped as to be suited for grafting to an artery； the stopper fills thegraft lumenexcept for a hole defined through the stopper's length, the hole providing aconduitthrough the graft lumen； the inflation tube passes through the conduit and isimmobilized relative to the stopper； the graft lumen is wide enough to allowpassageof the balloon pump chamber； and the conduit is too narrow to allow passage oftheballoon pump chamber.
