To provide techniques which can promote taking root and raising of moss on a base for raising.SOLUTION: This base material for raising 1 is a base material for raising for taking root and raising of moss on the surface thereof. Thermal adhesive fibers are compounded with the base material for raising 1. The base material for raising 1 also has a recess 20 on the surface on which moss is arranged. By arranging a moss section in the recess 20, it is suppressed that a moss section moves by water sprinkling or a wind. And further, by arranging all or some of each moss section in the recess 20, the contact spots between the moss section and the surface of the base material are increased.
