A delivery system for an implantable vaso-occluding device. A non-planarheatingchamber is disposed proximate to a distal end of an advancing member.Protruding froman interior surface of the non-planar heating chamber is a detachment fibermade from apolymeric material and having a closed distal end. At least one heatingelement isdisposed on the interior surface of the non-planar heating chamber to producesufficientheat to sever the detachment fiber. An articulation point is establishedbetween thevaso-occluding device and the delivery system. The vaso-occluding deviceremains at alltimes substantially self-centered while being advanced.
