A temperature sensing catheter with improved accuracy is provided. Thecatheter includesa catheter shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, and a first pair ofconductors extendingthrough the catheter shaft. Each one of the first pair of conductors has afirst end and a second end,and the first ends of the first pair of conductors are coupled to each otherat the distal end of thecatheter shaft to form a first thermocouple. A handle is coupled to theproximal end of the cathetershaft and receives the second ends of the first pair of conductors, and thehandle includes adigitizing circuit coupled to the second ends of the first pair of conductorsfor digitizing a voltagesignal of the first thermocouple.
