Disclosed is an air freshening device. The device has a liquid supply to supply liquid fragrance material (10) and a wick (20) in contact with liquid (10) in the liquid supply. A conductive mesh material (55) of about 200 mesh to about 600 mesh is included to retain the liquid material (10) in interstices thereof. A power supply applies voltage across a heater (50) which includes the conductive mesh material (55) so as to heat the liquid material (10) contained in interstices of the mesh material (55) to a temperature sufficient to vaporize the liquid (10). The air freshening device is also prevents deposition of the vaporized liquid material (10).
