The present application relates to a configuration for attaching an RFID tag to a liquid container, particularly a blood component container. The RFID tag can be inserted into an enclosure such as a stripping tab, or into a sealed cup attached to a container port. Tags can be alternately embedded in molded plugs or parts. The RFID antenna can be painted or affixed to the surface of the container. Alternatively, the tag can be inserted into the container to float freely within the liquid component.
