A space maintainer is disclosed. The space maintainer of the present invention is an easy to install appliance and can be planted in one go. The space maintainer includes one or more brackets, a wire having plurality of notches and optionally, a molar tube. The bracket(s) and/or molar tube are fitted on respective tooth and have a passage for passing the wire. The notches in the wire ensure that the appliance is kept in place and is not dislocated.
