FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and may be used for diagnostic, including intravascular, procedures. What is used is a catheter comprising a longitudinally pre-oriented tubular carrier, a reinforcement wound on the carrier either in the form of braiding, or spirally, surrounding and being in contact with the carrier, and a tubular coating layer surrounding and pressing the reinforcement to the carrier substrate, thereby keeping it wound on the carrier. This reinforcement represents a micro-tape max. 0.5 mm wide and having a fibre layer having a cross-section aspect ratio (width/height) from 2 to 20. The fibres are bonded by cured or setting solid resin or wax making 2-40 wt % of the micro-tape.
