The planting apparatus has a hollow structure (10) including a bottom wall (18) and sidewalls (12,14) which are arranged vertically from bottom wall. A cover (24) is provided at upper edges of side walls, facing away the bottom wall. Each side wall is formed with openings (22). The side walls are connected with bottom wall. The hollow structure is filled with material such as soil and granule. An independent claim is included for a method for planting plants.
