The invention aims at providing an excellent detergent for the skin which can form fine foam and is excellent in the ejection of foam at low temperature when charged into a foamer container and which can suppress dry skin after cleansing and a method for cleansing the skin. The invention relates to a detergent for the skin which contains (A) a betaine amphoteric surfactant, (B) an N-acylmethyltaurine salt and (C) a polyoxyethylene alkylsulfosuccinic acid salt and/or an alkylsulfosuccinic acid salt in such amounts by mass as to satisfy the relationship: (C)/[(A)+(B)]=0.05 to 0.5 and a method for cleansing the skin with the detergent.Linvention concerne un détergent excellent pour la peau qui peut former une fine mousse, qui présente dexcellentes caractéristiques déjection de la mousse à basse température lorsquelle est chargée dans un récipient de mousse et qui peut supprimer la sécheresse cutanée après le nettoyage, et un procédé de nettoyage de la peau.
